'I’m going to have to bring the heat,' Danielle Collins does not reveal many secrets as she gears up for a rematch against Aryna Sabalenka at the Italian Open

American sensation Danielle Collins continues to shine through many tournaments. The 30-year-old got into some form as she announced her last season on Tour. After winning at the Miami Open, Collins has been unstoppable.

At the Italian Open, she cruises past her round to make it to the semi-finals. With three talented women in the top 4, it was a clash between Victoria Azarenka and Collins for the last spot. However, the match was rather straightforward for the American, who finished it in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3.

With this win, Collins became the last woman through to the semis. She will now face WTA No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka for a spot in the finals. The two played each other last week at the Madrid Open, where Sabalenka emerged victorious in quick succession.

Now, Collins finds herself with a chance for some sweet revenge. Not revealing many secrets about her plan for the semis, she remained confident enough to bring the heat to the match against Sabalenka.

We’ve always had good matches, and it's always a few points here and there, especially when it comes down to these tight third setters. She has been playing really well and obviously like one of the best players in the world, right? No. 2 in the world right so I’m going to have to really bring the heat. Said Danielle Collins in the post-match interview

Currently, their head-to-head stands at 5-0, with all wins going to the Belarusian. Last week also, Sabalenka took the win without hesitation, but Collins heads on to take revenge and register her first win against the World No. 2.

Danielle Collins gets a post-retirement work offer from former tennis star Andy Roddick

Danielle Collins has been making the most of her last lap in tennis. After a disappointing 2023, the American achieved quick success in 2024. So far, she has won two successive titles at the Miami Open and Charleston Open, followed by a deep run in Madrid.

In a recent interview with Andy Roddick on his podcast, the host showered Collins with a lot of praise for her current form. He even compared her to his idol, Andre Agassi, before offering the American a good opportunity if she gets bored in retirement.

I think you are really flashing the personality, maybe more than we’ve been able to see before, and it’s just been great to watch. Nothing but success, and then if you’re bored in retirement, come and join us and we’ll have longer conversations. Said Andy Roddick on his podcast “Served with Andy Roddick”

Now, Collins has one goal in front of her: to beat Sabalenka and get into the finals of the Italian Open. It has been a great year for the American, who is finishing her career with a bang.
