The Alabama Crimson Tide didn't score a touchdown until the fourth quarter of the College Football Playoff National Championship, but when they did it was largely due to an accidental play made by defensive back Brian Branch.
Georgia had a 13-12 lead early in the fourth quarter when quarterback Stetson Bennett IV was pressured by Alabama linebacker Christian Harris. Bennett appeared to throw the ball away and Branch casually scooped up what he assumed to be an incomplete pass as he jogged out of bounds near the sideline.
But officials ruled the play a fumble and determined that Branch casually got control of the ball with one foot in bounds.

Alabama took advantage of the turn of events and took the lead just a few plays later when quarterback Bryce Young found Cameron Latu on a 3-yard touchdown pass.
